Christopher Hewett Christopher Hewett, (5 April 1922 - 3 August 2001), was a British actor who was perhaps best known for his role as Mr. Lynn Belvedere on the ABC sitcom Mr. Belvedere. He was educated by Jesuits at Wimbledon College in his native England. He also portrayed Mr. Roarke's sidekick, Lawrence, on the final season of the original Fantasy Island, and the effeminate stage director Roger DeBris in Mel Brooks's classic 1968 film comedy The Producers.
Hewett was a devout Roman Catholic, a veteran of the Royal Air Force, and a lifelong bachelor.
He was a diabetic and his death at age 79 was a consequence of complications brought on by that disease.
He was a descendant of the Irish political agitator Daniel O'Connell.
