On the level of consciousness this card shows the abrupt, sometimes even shocking perceptions, which cause our existing concepts, convictions, and perhaps even our entire image of the world to waver or collapse. This often starts out with unpleasant insights, which we have possibly carried around within us for a longer period as ("evil") presentiments, but were able to repress successfully. Now that they have violently forced their way into our consciousness, they burst our rigid, perhaps even compulsive concepts and turn our conceptions of security into a heap of rubble. It is often only when we look back that we realize that this phase was a breakthrough to a truly individual and lively view of things; breaking into a freedom from the known, as Krishnamurti impressively describes it in his book by the same name-* The Tower can additionally represent a revolutionary consciousness and, last but not least, the "eureka" experience of realizing suddenly the right solution for a problem that has long gone unsolved.
