General Description
The Knight of Pentacles embodies the mood in which visible and lasting values are created with diligence, endurance, and perseverance. He shows the sense for that which is solid, upright, and lasting, and therefore stands for the firm, reliable basis, the foundation that we can trust and build upon. He represents the atmosphere of the earth element: the physical reality in which security grows; feasible results and pragmatic courses of action that are important, and which, last but not least, offer a framework for our sensual experiences. Only when this stance is exaggerated does it lead to stubborness and inflexible clinging, to hard drudgery, or to its opposite: thick-skinned laziness and sensual derailment.
