KALUMBA The creator god of the Luba in Zaire, Kalumba knew that Life and Death would approach mankind, so he set a goat and a dog at the crossroads, with instruction to let Life pass, but not Death. The two animals quarreled, however, and the goat left the dog on duty. He, sleeping, did not notice Death slip by in disguise, but the next day, when the goat was on duty, he mistakenly captured Life.
