LAO-TZU One of the first founders of Taoism, Lao-tzu simply decided to leave society, and would have vanished without a trace from the world had not the customs official on the border asked him to write a book before leaving. Lao-tzu wrote about the proper way to live, then he went out of the kingdom. No-one knows where he went, how, when or if he died.
