PHEME The goddess of fame and report, whether good or bad, she was sleepless, always prying, swift offoot, announcing whatever she saw or heard, at first only to a few people, and in awhisper, then to larger groups and people, and louder, until finally she had traversedheaven and earth communicating it. She was a daughter of Gaea, and represented as agentle, tender figure, winged and holding a trumpet.
