A daughter of Uranos and Gaea, she was the personification of thatdivine law of right which ought to control all human affairs, of that highest and noblest sense of right which is subject to no human influences. She was also viewed as the goddess of the rights of hospitality. She gave the power of prophecyto Apollo, having held the post at Delphi before him. Zeus wooed her for a long timebefore she consented to become his wife, and to him she bore the Horae, Moerae andAstraea, the goddess of justice.
