PRIAM

Son of Laomedon, whom Hercules slew after the king refused to grant, as agreed, his daughter Hesione's handto the hero, Priam (who had previously been named Podarkes, and the only one spared by Hercules, at the entreaties of his sister, Hesione) became ruler of Troy in Laomedon's stead, and had by his wife Hekabe a most famous son, Paris. When the time came for Paris to be born Priam, warned by Cassandra that the boy would grow up to be the ruin of his country, abandoned Paris on the slopes of Mount Ida.
